As part of Sunderland City Council’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic it made available grants for voluntary groups based or working in the city.
Red Machine Allotment Association applied for one of these grants and was recently informed we had been successfully awarded £1,000.
The grant was very welcome in the current climate and will be invested in a couple of projects previously identified.
Colin Hargrave, the Association’s Chair, said ‘ This is a brilliant gesture from Sunderland City Council in support of struggling voluntary groups many of who have continued to provide services since lockdown began. Obviously we are pleased to have been successful with our application. Plot holders will be assured that we will listen to any suggestions they have for things to improve the site.’
